B2B Marketing tips for dating life

I overheard an interesting conversation between 2 of our SDRs yesterday

One of them is your textbook geek, who apparently isn’t lucky in the dating world

One is an in-house dating as well as a B2B expert

Here’s his (the expert’s) analogy

The dating world also has TOFU, MOFU & BOFU

TOFU - Dating Apps, Offline Events, Mutual Friends

MOFU - Social Media, Casual Dates

BOFU - Group gathering with friends, Fancy Dates

So just like in your sales funnel, you do lead gen and get a lot of prospect dates in your TOFU.

You set up quality profiles on dating apps that rank well

You network with people at events or hobby groups

You ask your friends for referrals.

Quantity comes into play here and you put yourself out there

Meet as many people as you can

From these prospect dates, a double pronged filtering will happen.

1 - People that filter you out

2 - People who you filter out

Sure, to filter out non-ICP you have to know yourself first, just like a good SDR knows his product/service

Once this filtration process is done, you move your prospects down the funnel

Get their number, connect on social media, ask them out on dates

This is where priority for quality starts to take over quantity

Try to get to know them well through a multi-channel approach

Talk on calls, send funny memes or cute posts through instagram, go on dates where you get to experiment and get to know each other

Remember, you’re not trying to marry them right away. 

And even if you want to, at this stage you’ll only scare them away.

Patience

Build the relationship

Show through your actions why you would be a great fit for them

And once sufficient camaraderie and understanding has been built, you move them to BOFU

The final qualifier to see if both of you would be compatible and can potentially form a long term partnership

Introduce them to your friends and family.

Go on fancy dates and short staycations.

The kind of things where you really get to know the other person through long exposure of each other’s everyday life

Design this funnel well and you will have a healthy dating life

While I can’t relate much to dating anymore

I think our SDR makes a solid case for dating through B2B marketing doesn’t he?

Also the analogy can be reverse engineered to build a great funnel, in case your dating life is better than your sales cycle 😄 😄
